Supporting women in challenging times through craft and creativity
The Cariad Blanket Project was founded in South Wales in 2021 with the aim of providing a way for women across the UK to stand alongside each other through craft and creativity.
The main way the project does this is by sending Cariad Blanket Boxes (free care packages) containing baby blankets, notes of encouragement and other treats to new mums facing challenging circumstances. Cariad means love in Welsh, and the hope is that each blanket created brings a sense of love to both the woman creating it, and the woman receiving it.
The project also provides free tutorials and workshops that teach different crafts and creative outlets so that any woman who wants to learn a new skill to either expand their creativeness, or to use that skill for therapeutic benefit, can do so.
